EZdrummer 2s ease of use combined with its groundbreaking features allows you to create a personalised drum track quicker than ever before. The stock kits are all great, but I have a love for Tama Starclassic kits and if I remember right, it was almost $200 for that expansion pack. Toontracks EZdrummer 2 is the worlds most popular drum plug-in, and for good reason. The expansion packs are pretty expensive, which is a bummer. The EZD kits all sound good and you can still set it up so each drum goes to it’s own track in the DAW where you can add your own plug-ins, but you’re basically tweaking something that’s already tweaked.Īlso, you have the option to stack drums in SD3, so if you’re not getting enough meat in your snare, you can combine two snares within the VST and hopefully get what you’re looking for. It depends on how far down the rabbit hole of drum sounds you want to go. In SD3, you have the option of shutting off all the EQ/compression/reverb and using the raw drum sounds. What you dont get, though, is the ability to manipulate the sounds themselves beyond basic pitch and. The new search engine, Song Track and Track Creator work very well indeed, and the superb groove editing setup give super-fast results. Ultimately, I just wanted more control over the drum sounds, which you couldn’t get with EZD. EZdrummer 2 makes creating convincingly realistic drum kit tracks an amazingly straightforward process. If you find Session drummer is working out well for you, then i'd just keep using it, and spend my money in some area where i feel i need improvement in a more pressing way.I used EZD2 for 3-4 years before upgrading to SD3. but really I think it comes down to the kind of style of music you're making, the kind of sounding kits you like, how much control you want on your mic setup and effects, and stuff like that. If you what you want is just something more simple, then maybe EZdrummer or addictive drums also might be better. Toontrack announced they will be releasing the long-awaited Superior Drummer 3 next month, on September 12th.

but if what you want is a VST that plays drums realistically on your electronic drumkit, and gives you the kind of versatility you could otherwise only get with alot of great equipment in a professional studio, then Superior drummer is definitely the way to go imo. I'm not sure how it fares in the midi department, i'd assume pretty damn good.

addictive drums looks pretty good as well. Superior Drummer 3 is more than a drum production tool its a virtual studio introducing endless possibilities for you to hone, shape and mold your drums. On my research also BFD seems to be the main rival for Superior drummer. It's made by toontrack just like EZDrummer is. to me, what's great about it, is all the mics and stuff you can change, the versatility seems to be astounding.

What’s more, because it’s a download purchase, you can have it on your PC or Mac within just a few minutes, all ready for Cyber Weekend service in your DAW. I think i agree with CJaysMusic I don't own any yet, and i haven't tried them all but so far, it looks to me like Superior drummer is the best you can get.Īlthough to make use of why it's better is more complicated than other kits. At just 69 from Sweetwater in the US or 58 from Thomann, EZdrummer 2 is a proper Black Friday bargain, as it usually retails for 149.
